Live Moss Walls in Cumberland, RI at Phantom Farms Brewing
Year Completed: Early 2024 (and still thriving)
Three massive living moss walls were installed in Cumberland, RI at Phantom Farms Brewing in January 2024. Four different species of living moss were used to create this design, along with several subspecies of living moss. The lighter green moss species depicts the topographical graph of the Blackstone River Valley as it goes through the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The 3 living moss air filter installation in total is capturing:
Carbon dioxide:
– 37,050 ppm of CO2 daily
– 13,523,250 ppm of CO2 yearly
Harmful pollutants daily including dust, allergens, dander, VOCs, toxic gases, metals, bacteria, viruses, and mold:
– 292,063,298 ppm of harmful pollutants daily
– 106,603,103,587 ppm of harmful pollutants yearly
2025 Moss Wall Update
We visited Phantom Farms Brewing about 2 years after the moss walls were installed with the Governor of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Commerce team. As you can see in the photo below, the LIVING moss walls are thriving and haven’t needed watering, sunlight, maintenance or replacement. This is all due to our long-lasting patented engineering that is included within all Moss Pure products. It’s Moss Pure’s patented and proprietary engineering that makes living moss stay alive in our design. It’s our engineering that makes living moss a certified air filter. Live moss on its own is NOT an air filter and will not survive without Moss Pure’s science. You can visit Phantom Farms Brewing in Cumberland, RI to take a look at the moss walls. They are stunning focal pieces of the iconic and historic space.
You can also see a local NBC news feature on the living moss walls below.

More pictures are below! The professional pictures were taken almost a year after the 3 moss walls were installed – and they’re still thriving and going strong! Moss and plant walls from other companies would have needed replacement 4-5 times since installation compared to our long-lasting living moss air filters!
Pictures taken by David Lawlor of Run of the Mill Photography. These are live pictures of the living moss walls (yes they are vibrant because they’re 100% LIVING moss, they’re not preserved moss which loses its aesthetic, fades, and needs constant replacing). Re-use of these pictures without Moss Pure’s permission is not permitted.
