-Ralph Khairallah, entrepreneur and judge at MIT Startup Competition

I’m an Engineer with two Bachelor of Science degrees (Chemical Engineering and Biology). During my time at the University of Rhode Island, I led a research team using algae to create a new biofuel source. I also used my love of science and fashion to create a sustainable and luxury clothing line.

I began my professional career developing medical devices that are used in the intensive care units of hospitals to help diagnose those in critical care. I then spent 8 years as an Environmental Engineer, overseeing treatment of wastewater using bacteria in a 480,000-gallon bioreactor. I also oversaw air pollution control, stormwater, and waste compliance. I hold several environmental accreditations; I am a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a PMP (Project Management Professional).

Why did I create Moss Pure? Well, during my career, I spoke with several customers and noticed that there was a gap. Products that were greatly engineered were not aesthetically pleasing. And products that used non-toxic chemicals that were good for both human health and the environment were not used very often. I wanted to create a product that would help others, and at the same time, was modern and unique. I created Moss Pure as a contemporary piece of art in your space, with an added bonus of being good for your health and for the environment.

A fun fact about me is that I am a foodie and especially fond of Mexican and Italian food. My goal is to try every Tex-Mex restaurant in the New England area at least once. If you have recommendations of a good spot or questions pertaining to Moss Pure, feel free to contact me.
